Character Interview

Hello all! As you have probably already seen, the cover and title of my newest book has been revealed!

Ethan Airman had always lived a quiet life. As a farmer on the outskirts he could avoid most of the conflict that had torn his country to pieces. Participating in underground church meetings and calling his guardian “father” and his fellow occupant “brother” was about as dangerous as it got.

Until the day that Ethan realized God was calling him to do something that could cost him him everything–– To step out in faith and take a wife.

As Ethan prepares to be a husband the Bible calls him to be, one doubt continues to plague him. What girl would risk her life to enter into the covenant of marriage?

What would you do if all that you believed was forbidden by the Government?

Today I'm going to do something fun that will hopefully give you a little taste of a few of the main characters! Below you will find "interviews" with the characters. I hope these are as funny to read as they are to write.

Q: If your house was on fire, what would you save?

A: Our Bible.

Q: Tea or coffee? With sugar and cream or black?

A: I think it depends on the mood I'm in. Coffee is helpful for early mornings on the farm, but I also like black tea with a little cream and sugar.

Q: What is your most ridiculous fear?

A: I'm not sure really. I guess I worry about things now and then, but I'm not sure if I'm afraid of them.

Q: Any sounds, smells, tastes, or textures bother you?

A: Well, the angle grinder *shivers* but that's because it has bad memories for me. I get annoyed when Jonas taps or kicks things when I'm trying to think, *grins* but other than that, not really.

Q: How tall are you?

A: I think I'm 6 feet even.

Q: What's your favorite food?

A: I like a good hearty soup in the winter, and I also love dishes with chicken and rice and fresh vegetables. Also fresh bread. Pie is always a favorite, though it's not exactly a meal item but more of a dessert.

Q: What did you dream of being as a kid?

A: I don't know really. I guess I always knew I'd be a farmer.

Q: What do you like to do on rainy days?

A: Read or play a card game with the others.

Q: Who are your favorite people?

A: Dad and Jonas of course.

Q: Do you like books or movies better?

A: I only saw a movie once, and it was propaganda, so I guess I'd say I like books better.

Q: What's your favorite thing about your job? What's your least favorite?

A: I love working the ground and watching things come to life, and I love working with people I love. I like being out in God's creation, breathing the fresh air and feeling the dirt in my hands and working hard. I guess my least favorite would just be when things break of get behind schedule.

A: Oh, our Bible for sure.

A: Tea?? Who drinks tea?? Coffee for sure. Sometimes black, sometimes with sugar.

Q: What is your most ridiculous fear?

A: Rats. I really don't like rats. But you wouldn't either if you were crawling around in the dark in the barn and one got stuck in your coat. Don't ask.

Q: Any sounds, smells, tastes, or textures bother you?

A: Ethan snoring. *laughs* No, not really.

Q: How tall are you?

A: I'm 6 feet 2 and 1/9th inches. (I know because I measured to be sure I was taller than Ethan.) I might be 2/9ths inches now, because I could have grown since this morning.

Q: What's your favorite food?

A: Cake and cookies and bacon and sausage and milk and spaghetti

Q: What did you dream of being as a kid?

A: First someone who flies, then a soldier, then a cowboy, then... I'm not sure what came after that.

Q: What do you like to do on rainy days?

A: Sometimes read a book, but I also love Dutch Blitz and sometimes I like to doodle.

Q: Who are your favorite people?

A: Not Ethan. *grins* No, Dad and Ethan.

Q: Do you like books or movies better?

A: I don't think I've ever seen a movie. I like books.

Q: What's your favorite thing about your job? What's your least favorite?

A: Being outside and doing things. I would die if I got locked up inside. Running around and driving big machines and hanging out with Ethan and Dad. I don't think I have a least favorite.
